Personal Response System
Q: What does a student Personal Response System do?
The student classroom response system is a combination of hardware and software that allows the instructor in a classroom to query, test or obtain a poll from students about an issue or question.
Q: How does the Personal Response System (PRS) work?
The response system is an infrared system that collects responses from students. The students use a personal clicker to send their response to a query to a receiver (distributed throughout the room) which sends the response to software that records the student response.
Q: Do I need to install software myself to make the PRS work?
No. The software (and hardware) are already installed in the classroom. All you need to do is to start the software already resident on the computer located in the general assignment classroom you are teaching in.
Faculty with laptops may wish to use their own system with the PRS. Faculty are encouraged to use personal systems for analyzing the data created by the PRS, but using faculty systems for acquiring the initial data in the classroom is not currently supported. For this, faculty must use the computer installed in the classroom.
