Introduction to UCR's Enterprise Access Control System

The Enterprise Access Control System (EACS) is the second core technology supporting UCR’s iViews administrative portal. EACS provides UCR System Access Administrators (SAAs) a single web tool to create and manage an “accountability structure” for their scope of responsibility. Using EACS, SAAs can directly grant authority to utilize campus electronic systems and can quickly and easily revoke access as well.

EACS is a companion system to the campus Enterprise Directory. The Enterprise Directory authenticates users via UCR NetID and password, while EACS determines whether or not individual users have the authority to access particular systems and applications. EACS does not currently support all campus administrative applications, but the number of supported systems is growing. iViews will be updated regularly in the months ahead as new systems are added to EACS.

As of January 2005, EACS has been in production for sometime and SAAs have been created for all campus organizations. Please click here for a complete list of campus SAAs. Please use the following link to run the EACS Accountability Report. If you have questions concerning how SAAs are established or changed, please e-mail Marc Guerra at marc.guerra@ucr.edu.

When fully deployed, EACS will be used (in a virtually paperless environment) to grant authority to systems ranging from Purchasing to the web version of the campus financial system. EACS contains reports that allow SAAs to view their accountability structure grouped by application or by UCR NetID.
