UCR NetID and Password

UCR NET ID

What is a UCR NetID?

The UCR NetID is your key to accessing UCR's resources. All of the online services that C&C offers to students requires the student to authenticate with the UCR NetID and password. If you are having trouble logging into any services, below is a list of resources for managing your UCR NetID.

UCR NetID

The UCR NetID is your username for the following services:

  • R'Web
  • R'Mail
  • iLearn
  • UCR wireless network
  • and many more . . .

New Students:  If you are a new student you will receive your UCR NetID in your acceptance letter.

Current and Former Students:  If you are a current, or former, student and either do not know your UCR NetID or do not have a UCR NetID you can obtain it via http://passwordreset.ucr.edu.  After you successfully complete the form you will receive an email containing your UCR NetID and a link to set your password.

NetID Password

The NetID Password is your password for most services at UCR including R'Web, R'Mail, iLearn, and the wireless network.  This is separate from your R'Mail Password which is used for POP and IMAP access to your R'Mail account.

Setting your NetID Password the First Time

New Students: If you are a new student you will receive a link to set your password in your acceptance letter.

Former Students:  If you are a former student who does not already have a UCR NetID you can both obtain your UCR NetID and receive a link to set your password by visiting http://passwordreset.ucr.edu and completing the form.

Changing your NetID Password

Students, both current and former, can change their password at http://password.ucr.edu.  Select Change your Password, select Campus NetID, then enter your new password. All UCR students are strongly encouraged to periodically change their passwords.  In order to change your password you will need your UCR Net ID, your current password, and the new password that you have chosen.

Resetting your NetID Password

If you do not know your password, or your password doesn't work, there are two options for resetting your password:

  • If you have set your security questions you can reset your password by visiting http://password.ucr.edu and selecting Reset Your Password.
  • If you have not set your security questions you can reset your password by visiting http://passwordreset.ucr.edu.  Upon successful completion of the form you will receive an email (usually within 15 minutes) containing a link to set your password.

Setting your Security Questions

Once you are able to log in to your account with your UCR NetID it is highly recommended that you set your security questions on http://password.ucr.edu.  This will allow you to easily reset your password should you ever find yourself unable to log in.

Setting your R'Mail Password

The R'Mail Password, unlike the NetID Password, is only for POP/IMAP access to your R'Mail.  It cannot be used to log in to the Central Authentication Service login or the campus wireless.  To set your R'Mail Password visit http://password.ucr.edu, select Change your Password, and select R'Mail (Google).

UCR Email Addresses

All current UCR students receive three email addresses (also known as aliases) in the formats:

  • UCRNetID@ucr.edu
  • UCRNetID@student.ucr.edu
  • firstname.lastname@email.ucr.edu*

Email sent to any of these addresses will go to the same R'Mail account.

*In cases of multiple students with the same first and last name the firstname.lastname@email.ucr.edu address may contain a three digit number.  You can verify your firstname.lastname@email.ucr.edu address via R'Web using the Student Profile app in your Authorized Applications.
